Terms of use
In effect since September 27, 2026
Dame una mano is a free platform to create and find volunteering events in your community. By using it you accept these terms. Take your time: they're short.
1. It's free and money is never asked for
Using Dame una mano costs nothing.
No event, chat or message may ask for, charge or offer money: no fees, no sign up costs, no collections, no transfers, no money donations. Nothing can be sold either. If an event needs materials, everyone brings what they can.
Events that ask for money aren't published or are removed, and the account may be suspended.
2. Your account
You can join events without an account, with just your name and your email. To create events you need an account, a confirmed email and a profile photo.
Use your real name and an email that is yours. Look after your password: you're responsible for what's done with your account.
3. If you organize an event
The organizer is responsible for their event. You agree to:
- Honestly describe what will be done, where, when and what to bring.
- Choose safe places and legal activities, and get the permits that are needed.
- Look after the people who come: explain the risks and don't ask for dangerous tasks without trained people.
- Respect the age limit you chose and the dignity of the people you help. Ask for permission before posting photos of people.
- Update the event if it changes and cancel it from its page if it won't happen. We email the people who joined.
- After the event, honestly confirm who came. Medals depend on it.
4. If you take part
Be on time, follow the organizer's directions, look after yourself and others. If you can't go anymore, leave the event to free your spot.
5. Getting along
We rate events, never people. It's not allowed to:
- Insult, harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.
- Post sexual, violent or misleading content.
- Pretend to be another person or an organization.
- Post other people's private data.
- Advertise, spam or sell.
- Organize illegal activities or activities that put someone at risk.
6. Reports and moderation
Anyone who has signed in can report an event from its page. Every report reaches our team and we review it by hand. If several people report the same event, it's hidden while we review it.
Chats warn when a message seems to talk about money. Use reports only for what puts people at risk or breaks these rules.
7. Removal of content and accounts
We may remove events, messages or photos, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put someone at risk. When safety requires it, we'll do it without prior notice.
If you think it was a mistake, write to hola@dameunamano.org and we'll review it. You can delete your account whenever you want from your profile.
8. What you post
What you post is still yours. You give us permission to show it on Dame una mano and in link previews when someone shares a link, while it's published.
Only upload photos and texts you have the right to publish.
9. Limitation of liability
Dame una mano connects people who want to help. We don't organize the events or supervise them on site. To the extent allowed by Colombian law, we're not liable for what happens at events, for damage to people or property, or for what other people post.
The service is provided as is and may have interruptions. Taking part is voluntary: weigh the risks and look after yourself.
Dame una mano is not an emergency service. If someone is in danger, call 123.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll publish the new version here with its date and, if the change is important, we'll let you know.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia. If there's a disagreement, we'll first try to solve it by talking with you. If that's not possible, the competent judges of Colombia will decide.
12. Credits
Maps and the names of neighborhoods and cities come from © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL license). Emoji in the share images are from Twemoji (Twitter, Inc. and contributors), licensed CC BY 4.0.
